Made in Hawaiʻi Festival. This annual festival, which runs Aug. 15 to Aug. 17, will showcase more than 700 vendors at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center. In 2024, the event drew about 70,000 attendees and $10 million in revenue. This year, the event includes 100 new vendors from across the Islands who are launching new products. Tickets are $8.
Maui Music & Food Experience. NÄ HĆkĆ« Hanohano award-winning singer and songwriter Paula Fuga will perform one of her favorite songs, âNo Place like Home,â at the Maui Music & Food Experience on Aug. 15 and 16. The benefit concert features Mongoose led by Bernard Fowler of the Rolling Stones, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk with special guest Ernie Isley of the Isley Brothers, Kanekoa, Marty Dread, Tavana, Wayne Baker Brooks, Frank Orrall and Ledward Kaapana, among others, at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. It supports Hua Momona Foundationâs mission to combat food insecurity, accelerate the Lahaina rebuild after the wildfires and cultivate the music scene for youth on Maui. Goodwill Goes Glam! This event celebrates sustainable fashion and shopping. Each year, the event asks a local designer to curate a fashion show for the gala, which is held from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. This year, the designer is Rumi Murakami. Free parking is available at McKinley High School. Goodwill Hawaiʻi aims to fundraise about $400,000 during the three-day event, which is run with the help of at least 200 volunteers. Tickets start at $30 for the standard fashion show and access to the sale of looks from the runway. Details.
Duke Kahanamoku OceanFest. This annual event runs from Aug. 15 to 24. It includes surfing, swimming, Outrigger canoeing, paddleboard racing, surfboard water polo and beach volleyball contests, as well as foiling and dog surfing competitions. The week-long festival draws local and international contestants. The event raises funds for scholarships and grants for Hawaiʻi athletes. Details.
SATURDAY, AUG. 16
âPĆpoloheno: Songs of Resilience & Joy.â  Berkeley-based Kumu Hula MÄhealani Uchiyama will join Grammy winner Kalani PeÊ»a and a number of NÄ HĆkĆ« Hanohano Award winners to perform songs from the new album, âPĆpoloheno: Songs of Resilience & Joy,â which celebrates the stories of people of African descent in Hawaiian history.  Catch a live performance of music from the album at 7:30 p.m. at the Leeward Community College Theatre. Tickets are $40 for general admission, $30 for kupuna, $20 for keiki and $10 for students of the community college. Get tickets.
SUNDAY, AUG. 17
âChief of War.â HawaiÊ»i Film Alliance, which launched in July, will host its inaugural public event: Pilina Industry Meet & Greet. It will feature a screening of the fourth episode of âChief of Warâ during an event that runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moani WaikÄ«kÄ« at the International Market Place. There will be a no host bar. Moani WaikÄ«kÄ« will serve complimentary pupus. Free. RSVP.
