Honu’s Kalbi & Sushi is offering discounted mini plates for a limited time

To celebrate its two-year anniversary, Honu’s Kalbi & Sushi on Kapahulu Avenue is featuring a daily happy hour from 1 to 4 p.m.

The biz — known for its flavorful kalbi and reasonably priced sushi — is offering discounted mini plates during this happy hour. The discounted plates can be ordered for dine-in or takeout; the promotion is being offered until the end of June.

All mini plates include rice, kimchi and macaroni salad. Choose from shrimp katsu, cheese pork katsu and mini fish jun plates ($9.95 each), or teri beef, stir-fried pork or mini meat jun ($10.95 each). The meat jun plate is one of the most popular option from the eatery’s regular menu; the mini version has become a customer favorite. The fish jun is another delicious option — it’s lightly battered, moist and flaky.

If you’re craving something heartier, opt for the cheese pork katsu ($10.95). Even when smothered by a thick, housemade katsu sauce, the pork katsu still boasts a delectable crunch.

While katsu sauce is frequently ordered, customers can choose from three options — katsu sauce, barbecue sauce or a garlic mayo sauce.
