Affordable and fun music and arts classes on Oahu

Sign up for low-cost arts and music classes at city parks across Oahu

Kamaaina of all ages — from keiki to working adults and kupuna — can try their hand at ballet, beading, ukulele, pickleball or arts and crafts through free or low-cost programs through the City and County of Honolulu. Registration for spring classes opens in January.

Offerings in the current set of courses include free activities, such as ukulele for kupuna at the Makua Alii Senior Center, lei making at the Aina Haina Community Park, and hula for keiki at Kailua District Park.

Registration dates vary by location:

• Honolulu Botanical Gardens: starts at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6; (808) 768-7139

• District 1 Parks (Ka Iwi to Waikiki): starts at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13; (808) 768-8944

• District 2 Parks (Makiki to Aiea): starts at 5pm on Tuesday, Jan. 14; (808) 768-9292

• District 3 Parks (Waipahu to Makaha): starts at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15; (808) 768-6889

• District 4 Parks (Mokuleia to Makapuu): starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16; (808) 768-8980

• District 5 Parks (Pearl City to Whitmore): starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17; (808) 768-6940
